Offering large agency performance with small agency personal service, Publicity Matters began providing public relations services to a number of clients in 1992.

Company President Matt Amodeo has been publicizing and promoting companies and special events in the Washington area and around the country for almost 30 years. Along the journey he has developed publicity strategy for Dreyer’s (Edy’s) Grand Ice Cream; Downtown Washington Business Improvement District (BID); Big Apple Circus; Cirque du Soleil, Canada’s critically acclaimed theatrical circus; Gold’s Gym International, the world’s largest fitness chain; Ethel M Chocolates, a division of Mars, Inc.; SMG, the Philadelphia-based facility management company; Rob Becker’s smash hit “Defending The Caveman;” and the National Football League’s re-launch of its popular Punt, Pass & Kick youth program.

Demonstrating a flexibility of assignments, Amodeo also has handled publicity and media relations campaigns for advertising agencies, authors, government agencies, interior designers, public relations firms, event planners, restaurateurs and relationship marketers.

Amodeo’s expertise in media relations can be traced back to his time at The Washington Post. It was in this area as an aspiring writer where he learned how the media interact with public relations executives. Having worked in the media has given Amodeo a clear understanding of how editors and producers operate on a daily basis, making him a knowledgeable and effective pitchman for his clients.

Amodeo began his career in public relations while working at ProServ (now SFX Sports Group), one of the leading sports/special event marketing firms representing many of the world’s top athletes. At ProServ – where he worked with renowned sports agents Donald Dell and David Falk – Amodeo helped to publicize the firm’s growth and the achievements of its clients in addition to promoting the development of the company’s successful television division.

Before launching Publicity Matters, Amodeo was Director of Media Relations for Centre Management (now Washington Sports & Entertainment), the arena/event management company that operates the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. At Centre Management he was responsible for developing public relations strategies for a wide range of special events at two of the Washington area’s primary entertainment venues: the Capital Centre/US Airways Arena and the George Mason University Patriot Center. Amodeo handled all aspects of public relations, from advance publicity tours to on-site media relations. It was during his tenure with Centre Management where he honed his skills and earned the respect of both the local and national media as a public relations practitioner who was both professional and credible.

The company’s entertainment, sports and special events niche was carved out over the past several years through the successful publicizing of some of the region’s top entertainment attractions, including Ice Capades, Harlem Globetrotters, Sesame Street Live, and the Moscow Circus. The firm also has extensive experience handling all aspects of publicity for such additional clients as the NutraSweet World Professional Figure Skating Championships, Arena Football League, the McDonald’s American Cup Gymnastics Championships, Campbell’s Soups Tour of Olympic & World Figure Skating Champions, and World Wrestling Entertainment.
